What Can Rhinoplasty Do for Me?

  • Large nose
  • Small nose
  • Hump on the bridge
  • Upturned or downturned tip
  • Wide bridge
  • Wide nostrils
  • Crooked nose
  • Lack of definition in the transition between the nose and lips
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Deviated septum
  • Nasal injuries or past nasal trauma

If you’re unhappy with the appearance or function of your nose, call and schedule a rhinoplasty consultation with Dr. Tehrani.

What’s Rhinoplasty Recovery Like?

Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia in our surgical center. The procedure takes about 1-2 hours. After you wake up, you’ll spend another 1-2 hours in recovery. When you’re ready to return home, you’ll need a trusted friend or family member to accompany you and care for you. If needed, we can arrange for a private nurse to assist you. Most patients experience improvement each day throughout their recovery until they feel 100% back to normal.

Rhinoplasty is typically a low-pain experience. We’ll provide painkillers, but most patients don’t ever need to use them. There is typically very little, if any, pain after rhinoplasty.

  • The First Few Days– Use cold compresses to reduce swelling and bruising. Keep the head elevated.
  • A Few Days Post-Rhinoplasty– You can start wearing contacts after a few days. If you wear glasses, we’ll provide special tape so you can suspend your glasses from the forehead. It is very important that your glasses don’t rest on the nose for six weeks. If nasal packing was used, it will be taken off after a few days. This will dramatically improve your comfort.
  • One Week Later– Most patients are able to return to work and social activities after about a week. The splint is taken off at the end of the first week.
  • Resuming Sports and Exercise– You can resume strenuous exercise after three weeks. Contact sports should be avoided for six weeks.

We’ll provide detailed instructions for rhinoplasty recovery at the time of your surgery. Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
