Studies show that music helps patients during plastic surgery procedures, and top plastic surgeons such as Dr. Kevin Tehrani of Aristocrat Plastic Surgery & MedAesthetics agree that the benefit of playing music in the operating room is immense.
A recent studies by Oxford University Hospitals published by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, have found that patients undergoing plastic surgery procedures benefit significantly from having music playing in the operating room.
As written in an article published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons “Anesthesia for Cosmetic Surgery,“ patients who listened to music preoperatively and during operations were calmer and less preoccupied with the surgery than patients who didn’t, and there were also measurable differences in heart, respiratory rates, and blood pressures between the two. At the same time, music had the same effect on the surgeons and the staff in the operating room.
What kind of music does Dr. Kevin Tehrani listen to during plastic surgery?
Top New York plastic surgeon Dr. Kevin Tehrani, founder and chief plastic surgeon of Aristocrat Plastic Surgery & MedAesthetics, states listening to music helps him greatly in certain procedures such as Liposuction, where the work is very manual.
Dr. Tehrani explains that he switches between different music genres depending on the type of procedure he’s performing.
“For facial work I like instrumental Spanish guitar like Govi, for Liposuction I like fast moving and energetic music like freestyle or Reggaeton, and during all other procedures, I listen to hard rock,” says Dr. Tehrani.
