Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room or chamber. This is a well-established treatment for poor-healing wounds, serious infection and other diseases. In a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber, the air pressure is increased higher than normal air pressure. Under these conditions, your lungs are able to gather more oxygen than you would be able to under normal circumstances. Your blood carries this oxygen throughout the body, which helps to promote healing, fight bacteria and stimulate the release of substances called stem cells and growth factors.

Recipients of hyperbaric oxygen therapy typically include those with poor-healing wounds, who have tried traditional wound healing strategies and have not healed in the appropriate amount of time. How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works

As Aristocrat Plastic Surgery & MedAesthetics being an outpatient facility, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is performed on the terrace of our Manhattan facility. Our hyperbaric chamber is designed for one person, in which they will sit or lie down for 30 minutes to an hour.. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the air pressure in the chamber is higher than normal, which can create a temporary feeling of fullness in your ears, which can be relieved by yawning or swallowing. Members of the Aristocrat Plastic Surgery & MedAesthetics team will monitor you and the therapy chamber throughout your treatment. To benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you will likely need more than one session, depending on your condition.
