This female patient underwent lateral tension abdominoplasty with muscle plication. Plication helps tighten abdominal muscles and make a waistline narrower. Not all patients who undergo abdominoplasty need muscle plication but it is recommended to those patients who were diagnosed with diastasis recti (also known as muscle separation). It usually happens as a result of several pregnancies or physical injury. Consultation is needed to determine whether you are a candidate for the procedure.
