Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes spots, pimples, blackheads especially on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest and upper arms. Whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, cysts and nodules are all forms as acne vulgaris. A long-term skin condition that occurs when dead skin cells and oil from the skin clog hair follicles. Genetics is the primary cause of acne in 80% of cases. More than 600 million people around the world are affected by acne that makes it the 8th most common disease. There have been lots of scientific studies that measured the efficiency of various treatment methods but still there is no one-fits-all solution so far. For some people eating fewer simple carbohydrates (sugar!) helps minimize the condition, while others can manage acne with topical creams and medications.
Aristocrat’s top treatments for acne scarring:
- Laser Treatments– such as; fraxel, light treatments, micro laser peel, laser genesis or Vbeam can dramatically help improve the depth, color and texture of the acne scarring which will result in a smoother and clearer skin. Lasers are one of the most effective treatments for acne scarring. We notice up to 90% improvement but results don’t happen overnight, and if you decide to try you may need a series of treatments but give it at least several months to see the results as they are accumulative, meaning that you will get more improvement with each treatment.
- Chemical Peels- Chemical peels are a great treatment for the improvement of chronic and active acne as well as pigmentation left behind by old acne lesions. It works by dissolving the top layers of your skin, drying up the acne lesions and unclogging comedones while purging the pockets of oil under the skin that would have been the next wave of acne. In some patients a series of peels may be necessary. Peels are also done as a maintenance done 2-4 times a year to keep skin looking clear, smooth and preventative. Chemical peels are done by an experienced aesthetician.
- Microneedling and Microneedling with RF. Microneedling, also called collagen induction treatment, works by making tiny channels or controlled wounds into your skin forcing your body to heal itself and produce more collagen resulting in a smoother skin texture. Microneedling with RF uses radio frequency to penetrate deeper into the skin for more collagenesis, skin tightening and further improves the texture of the skin.
- Dermal fillers – Fillers, specifically Bellafill, is done by subsiding the deep depressed scars filling underneath it, essentially smoothing out the surface of your skin while creating collagen in the area. Bellafill lasts 5+ years and is the most commonly used filler for acne scars.
Aristocrat Plastic Surgery also has several skincare products designed specifically for people suffering from acne, such as our APS Salicylic Treatment Lotion, APS Microexfoliating pads and APS Bacne Kit. If necessary, topical or oral prescriptions will be prescribed.
